SALT

we did our best .
i compromised with carrot
she with broccoli.
but there are things
inescapable .
you can slit  your throat
but cant hold your breath for a long time  .
she wanted in vegetables
salt
should match her bitterness
i was escapist .
my expectations never betray me .
a small amount of salt
strained our relationship.

  1. I wonder if the line "I was escapist" fits you in real life too. Anyhow, not judging the poet by what he writes is what you always say, so not doing that anymore, all I have to say is that this too is a wonderful piece of poetry. You know the art of expressing simple things of life in a simple pleasant way and for that matter even complicated aspects of life in a wonderful manner. That makes me say that you come across at times as a very "suljha hua insaan" and at times "complex and beyond comprehension". Your poems are my all time favourite. Keep writing, poet.
